How did you get started? My career as a model started back in 2008, when a clothing company at a nightclub approached me. The owner dug my look and asked me to model for his clothing company! Prior to this I had no modeling experience and my main focus was school, but after being introduced to modeling I loved the experience! I Love that I can express myself through photographs. Over the years I have tried to incorporate photo shoots whenever possible in between school and work.Do you love any one genre of modeling more than another? It’s hard to pick a particular genre because I love experimenting with different looks and styles. Lately I have been inspired by pastel Goth and have incorporated this style in some of my shoots. I also would love to shoot more Avant-garde and stylized photoshoots! What was your first shoot as a model like?My first photoshoot was nerve racking because it was for a clothing company with other experienced models at the shoot. At the time I had no idea what I was doing, and I was one of the last ones shot so I was nervous. In the end I went with the flow and I loved it and wanted to pursue it more.Tell us a bit about your style? My style tends to vary because I don’t like to stick to one. Some days I will throw on a t-shirt, jeans and boots and call it a day, while others I like to wear wigs, bright makeup and elaborate accessories. I love to change it up!You’re a lover of body modification from your coloured hair to piercings and tattoos. Are you planning anymore for the future?Piercings I have no plans of getting because I have had the piercings I wanted at one point or the other. Tattoos on the other hand, I would love to get more of! I have wanted to finish my arm and also get a “lunar” inspired chest piece. As a beauty and fashion junkie, what are some of your favorite current styles and beauty tricks?I am in love with pastel goth right now!I love the cute but tough aesthetic that this style incorporates. Summer is also here so corals, cute bright colored summer dresses and lightweight sheer polyester tops are my go to wardrobe items right now. I also love playing with and exploring all things makeup so here are some of my favorite beauty tricks!
  1. Making your lipstick matte after application by dabbing translucent powder on your lips. My lipstick has a problem with getting in my teeth, so this is the best for that as well!
  2. Lining your lower eye lids with a nude pencil really refreshes your eyes and makes your eye pop!
  3.  Olive oil or coconut oil is the best makeup remover! Why spend more money on makeup remover when these are sitting in my pantry and doubles as a moisturizer for my eyes.

In the past I have been an advocate/counselor at a Rape Crisis center and an intern at a contemporary art museum. I like to find ways to give back in some way. I also love to learn so whenever possible I like to take art/photography related classes. If I weren’t a model I definitely would pursue my other hobbies in more depth like photography. Right now my time is really constrained so I haven’t focused on it as much as I would like. I am still trying to find the perfect balance to pursue all the things I love and care about.Who are some of your biggest inspiration? From family members, artists and compassionate individuals, there are so many amazing people that inspire me! Within the art and modeling industry some of my inspirations include photographers like Cindy Sherman, Diane Arbus, Hannah Wilke, No Regrets Photography, and Kat Attack Photography to name a few. There are also models that help inspire me to be myself and not to be afraid to try and experience different things. Some models that inspire me are Bettie Page, Kelly Eden, Christian Fury, Tess Holiday and Masumi Max .What makes you stand apart from other models?I feel I have a very “bubbly” personality that really shows through my photographs. I am also not afraid to experiment with different looks and poses. I generally have a positive attitude when I go to a shoot and love a good laugh! How much have you changed since you first started modeling?I feel the more I have modeled the more confidence I have gained about my body. I am able to express myself in ways that make me feel comfortable and proud. When I first started I was a little self-conscious but now I have learned to embrace my body. I have learned that not one body is more beautiful than the other and it is important to embrace our differences because they make us unique!Do you have any tips for new models that find you inspiring? My biggest piece of advice is to be yourself and own it! Your photographs will turn out so much better when you show confidence. I also recommend practicing your poses in front of a mirror because it will give you an idea of what you want to try out before a shoot. I also like to plan to bring a variety of outfits and accessories just in case shoot plans change or you want to experiment with different styles and concepts. I also think that models should try to work with photographers they admire even if you have to pay them! It is sometimes hard to do trade work when they are trying to make a living so why not help support fellow artists? It will help build your portfolio and you will really enjoy working with someone you admire. It is also important to be safe and comfortable when working with photographers, so always makes sure they check out. If they are sending you odd vibes, check their references and accounts to make sure they say who they say they are. If you go to a shoot alone, always leave an address with someone, so someone knows your whereabouts. Your safety should always be a number one priority!Find more of Amorette on Facebook, Instagram (@Belleamorette) and Twitter. Before you go don’t forget to check out the gallery of photographs below!
