All over the world there are women who want more sex than they are getting and they don’t seem to understand why they can't find it. Meanwhile, there are men that feel the exact same way. They feel like women are too picky, or too frigid and so they give up. Often men are either too lazy or too afraid to keep trying and women are still held down by conventions regarding how forward they’re allowed to be. The result of all this miscommunication is a booming prostitution industry in a country where the trade is illegal almost everywhere. Here are the reasons why men pay for sex.
Why do you think men pay for sex? Let us know in the comments!
Not anymore. Michael is an attorney in his late 60s from Illinois who admits that he used to hire prostitutes. However, he says now he no longer does because he doesn’t need to. “When I was younger women were much more sexually repressed. Now, women are allowed to embrace their sexuality so there’s no need to hire hookers. It’s no longer a “just missionary with your wife” world.
Jamie. Jamie is 31-year-old who hired a prostitue in Amsterdam. He told Cosmopolitan he did it simply because it seemed like the thing to do, but he’s not happy with his experience. "I didn't feel any guilt about it – just vague disappointment that it was rubbish sex with a girl who I don't think really wanted to be there. I used a condom – I thought it would be insane not to, and I didn't have a choice anyway. She told me she would never have had sex without one.”

Jamie now. After telling his fiancé he almost broke up his engagement, Jamie has changed his tone about prostitution. "I still know people who sleep with prostitutes and whereas in the past I would feel sorry for them, now I feel angry with them. Not only is it something that will come back and bite you one day, from a purely selfish point of view it's also pointless, in that it's wasting money on bad sex that benefits nobody at all.”

They’re gay. Some men hire female prostitutes because they’re repressed homosexuals. It may sound counterintuitive, but HBO’s "Hookers At The Point" shows just how common it is. A prostitue wearing a wire during an encounter with a John is asked by him to spend the whole encounter talking about all the men she’s had sex with and their penises. As she details the look and feel of the penises he says, “yeah, that’s where i want to be, right where all that d***’s at.”
They want gay sex. Of course the other side of that coin is gay men who are living a straight married life and want to have homosexual sex that’s discrete and comes with no strings attached. To serve that niche, there are many young men on the streets selling their bodies for a quick buck.

Less risk. One of the biggest reasons men sleep with prostitutes according to 32-year-old Justin is that it’s more discrete and there’s less risk of being caught. Most sexual encounters run the risk of generating emotions on the part of either party; with a prostitute, that risk is highly unlikely. A man doesn’t have to worry about a prostitute showing up at his house to talk to his wife.

Spread the seed. While it’s up for debate, it’s been a long held belief that men have a biological imperative to “spread the seed.” The belief is that early man was faced with growing the species and as a result, our brains are wired to want to impregnate as many women as possible. If you accept that, mens’ desire to sleep with prostitutes makes sense. It’s no longer acceptable to have sex with whoever you want when you want like it may have been during the cave men era. Prostitutes allow a man to feel like he’s fulfilling his biological imperative.
Experimentation. The most common reason men give for hiring prostitutes is that they want to experiment in new ways that their wives aren’t up for. In some cases this is true, but in most cases it’s probably not and other factors are jumbling up the man’s sex life.

Men are chicken. This is very true and deep done it probably relates to evolution. Men feel like brave vikings and cavemen inside but on the outside they act like chickens. Men are afraid to be their true sexual selves in the bedroom because they’re afraid of judgement and rejection. When a man has paid a woman, he feels like the possibility of judgement or rejection is no longer there.

Communication breakdown. Most people have major communication problems and even some people who are good communicators are actually bad communicators in the bedroom. Men are afraid to ask their wives to try something new or to fulfill their fantasy, or they don’t know how to ask. Maybe they try it out of the blue one time, it doesn’t go well and so they shut down the possibility forever and instead go to a prostitute.
Adult film vs real sex. It’s been written about time and time again: the difference between real sex and adult film. But people have taken that to mean that real sex is boring. It doesn’t have to be. Men think they can’t attempt any of the sexual acts they see in adult film but want so desperately to try, from anal to ejaculating on their partners.

Variety. People in general crave variety. It’s just a fact of life. Many people make the metaphor that no matter how much you love pizza, you’d get sick of eating it every night of your life. It’s an apt comparison.
Anyonymity. Many men are extremely turned on by the idea of having sex with somebody who’s anonymous, whose name they don’t know, sometimes even whose face they cannot see. Anyonymity is the most extreme version of no strings attached.
You know what you’re getting. If you accept the (unproven) idea that men have an innate desire for sexual variety, there are a lot of reasons why prostitution beats out other kinds of cheating. One of them is that prositution gives men the ability to know what they’re going to get. Finding someone to cheat with online on the other hand could result in false advertising.
Crack The term “Crack Whore” is usually misunderstood. People believe that it refers to a woman who prostitutes to pay for crack. In actuality, it refers to men who purchase the services of prostitutes while on crack. The drug seems to fuel the street prostitution industry in a major way. Men feel the need to pay for sex while high on crack, even if they don’t actually have sex. Often, they wind up just paying a woman to smoke their crack with them. Cocaine often heightens one’s sex drive while stifling their ability to perform.

Sex as a product. We’re used to sex being a complicated fact of life. Prostitution turns sex into a product. It simplifies sex into something we all understand, consumerism. We can choose what we want, we can read the online reviews. We can decide beforehand how we want it to go. Some men prefer this to the spontaneity of real sex.
